My Journey:

I first started running in lockdown, like many of us did, but that quickly ended after I ran myself into an injury as I kept trying to run my 5km faster and faster! This is where I made my first mistake by just focusing on my pace, not caring about my health! Fast forward a few years and I qualified as a Personal Trainer and signed up to a charity 10km race with a group of others from my work at the time. This was in memory of a 17 year old cadet and, blimey, it was tough! I managed it in just over an hour as I was running with someone who was a fully fledged runner who dragged me across the line! At this point I hadn't been running since lockdown.

Then I caught the bug…

I signed up to a half marathon for a few months later and got into running three times a week. I already had a solid strength training background so just needed to build my fitness. 

Around this time, I was also diagnosed with SIBO, a bacterial overgrowth in the gut that explained my years of gut distress! I was always moaning about bloating and a bad tummy, so training through this was somewhat challenging at times (if you know, you know).

The week of my half marathon, I started the SIBO treatment which involved a complete switch up in my diet. Safe to say, the half marathon didn't go to plan as I suffered with a very poorly tummy from mile 1! I made it over the line very disappointed as I felt I could have done better. Despite this, I continued my running and signed up for another half marathon the following year and this is when I fell in love with running.

Fast forward another year...

I have been running consistently and completed another half marathon. I have also completed a running coach course with UESCA because I know I wanted my direction in personal training to be focused towards running.

I am now training for my first full marathon which is Manchester in April 2024 and have started dabbling in trail running with my German Shepherd, Bella.

My Credentials:

I am a UESCA certified running coach. A NASM Level 3 Personal Trainer and have a diploma in Advanced Sports Nutrition.
